There is no comparison between homemade cranberry sauce and the canned stuff.
Making your own from fresh berries is simple and delicious.
Heres what you’ll need.
- 1 bag fresh cranberries
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup orange marmalade
- 1 cinnamon stick
In a saucepan combine water, sugar and berries. Simmer on medium until it starts to bubble. Stir occasionally. Turn heat to low and continue to simmer and occasionally stir until berries split and start to jell.
Remove from heat and stir in marmalade. Mix well and transfer to a covered dish. Add cinnamon stick, seal the lid and refrigerate. This sauce last in a refrigerator for several weeks, so go ahead and make the sauce now. It’ll be ready for Thanksgiving.
TIPS
- If too tart add a little more sugar to taste.
- You don’t have to stand over this and stir. Just let it simmer and stir occasionally. It’ll take a couple of hours.
